One of the most influential spiritual teachers of the 20th century joins with the Archangel Michaél to confront mysterious demons in 1923 Europe, as the Nazi party is beginning to emerge. Teacher and clairvoyant Rudolf Steiner works to waken people to hidden realities, as religious and political enemies oppose him, and his pupils struggle to grasp their tasks. The play’s title, Fire In The Temple, refers to the arson which destroyed the first Geotheanum as well as Rudolf Steiner’s struggle with opposing spiritual and material forces.
Crafted from actual events and discourse, Fire in the Temple. dramatizes Rudolf Steiner’s final months and brings to stage the people around him, including two extraordinary women, Marie Steiner von Sivers and Dr. Ita Wegman, both of whom stood by him until the very day of his death – and beyond. Their personal conflicts, hopes and sorrows are sensitively portrayed in this rigorously researched drama.
Glen Williamson is an actor, storyteller and writer now touring with Anthropos Productions telling of Fire in the Temple, which he authored. He trained in the Chekhov acting technique and at The Juilliard School and has acted with the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and the American Stage Festival in New Hampshire. He resides in Colorado. Laurie Portocarrero is an actor, storyteller, drama teacher and director who trained in the Chekhov technique, living in upstate New York.
